Who says size doesn't matter? I remember the days when we first opened our doors. There were tons of little guys like us around. Do you remember Seaboard Foods, Best Foods, Mountain Warehouse, Bud Matthews, Biggers Bros. and Emory Foods to name a few???
Where are they all now? All of them were eaten up by conglomerates feasting at the table of Bigger is Better. Now word has it that two powerhouses in the wholesale foods world are joining hands to bring us something like MEGA FOOD GUYS... Just one stop shopping from the only show in town. Isn't that just a little scary to you? It is to me. Does choice matter? Can you say MA Bell? Standard Oil? Microsoft?
OK, since we are very small fish in an ever increasing pond, I admit a certain degree of paranoia, but I think we should all give pause.
I have witnessed the sad Wallmartinization of my hometown of Murphy, NC. Once there were many small merchants downtown, now there are few. Hulls of buildings remain. Is this the results we want in the food industry?
Small, local niche companies like us need your support. We provide valuable SERVICE and information that the big boys just cannot deliver. We can compete in the market place head to head and still bring you good value. Sure we may get beat up on the price of a few items that are the loss leaders

for the mega guys but often they offer Chevys and we offer Mercedes. Check out our unstabilized Brie, for example. There is surely no comparison in quality and flavor.
Maybe some of our faithfully departed purveyors needed to depart but the wholesale food world needs little fish like us. We serve a vital role in keeping the big boys on their toes and off yours. We like being your local hometown supplier. We try very hard to do it well. We hope we get it right! We appreciate very much your loyalty and your support!

VANILLA BEAN PRICES, NUTS!!!!!
In the bad news/good news department, have you wondered what happened to the prices of Vanilla Beans? Their prices are through the roof due to torrential rains and a tidal wave associated with a storm off the coast of Madagascar. We were surprised to learn that the Vanilla Bean is actually part of a delicate bloom of an orchid plant variety. Not only was the crop decimated but the tender vegetation will take years to repair.
Now the good news: We have drastically cut our prices on nuts of all kinds. We have made arrangements with a new supplier that deals directly with producers to give us our best pricing ever on these products. Please check out our new low prices on the following page!
